Garden notes

Jen Hinson

Today was gorgeous- started out quite chilly, then was jeans-and-t-shirt warm in the afternoon.

I planted a highbush cranberry viburnum, a white lilac, 3 hellebore, and direct seeded pink forget-me-nots, and some sweet peas. I also moved the Snow Queen clematis, and planted a LOT of deep purple (almost black) bearded iris that were originally my great-grandma Elizabeth Hinson’s. (I left tons behind because I’m not a jackass)

Tomorrow, if the weather is cooperating- it might snow! Oh, Iowa- I’m going to our old house and digging up a rhizome or two of my Grandma Helen’s iris. I have to haul ass on the smaller gardens, because my rose and dahlia orders start rolling in next week. And they are not small orders. Not to mention the big garden needs prepped (where I plant my amaranth, dahlias, cosmos, sunflowers and zinnias), and I need to get ready for wedding season, peony season, Mother’s Day, Prom, AND a styled shoot to be named later.

Not to mention the big “Heather Beat Cancer’s ass” party in two weeks. Y’all, I am so happy for her. She fought like a mama bear. That’s my friend.

So not really anything going on. laughs hysterically
